Hey ladies, your forties are your BEST years, regardless of body image. By then you know yourself, your strengths and your shortcomings. You have figured out what you are really good at - be it mother or career or wife or friend…You can see through fake pretty easily and you do not bother to ask permission to speak your opinion. Celebrate your forties. They are really good years!
In the last year I discovered jumpsuits by a small fashion brand out of Brooklyn, Mixed by Nasrin. I'm currently wearing my jungle print jumpsuit from them. I NEVER would have worn it in previous iterations of myself. It would have been too loud. But the reality is that I *am* loud, and I look fucking great in this jumpsuit. It also makes me feel like Ms. Frizzle, and I love that. Ms. Frizzle all. damn. day.
Yes. About to turn 41 and have never felt more embodied. The old insecurities still crop up from time to time (my poor chin, I've fought my goatee with the tweezer sword for years), but with each passing day, I become more enamored with myself, inside and out. It's a good feeling. Thanks for writing about your experience!
I mean, I have bumped asses (consensually and intentionally) with you in dance class, and can 100 percent confirm your Stone Cold Fox Status. Survey says…ding ding ding.
