The Joker! DJ! Harvey Milk is a great one. George Saunders I love the work and don't know the person as well. And now I'm off to google Paul Wellstone...this coloring book is really coming together...
Ok, so I've owed you this list for a while now: Carl Braden and Will Campbell (two Barnraisers icons!), Henry Wallace, Tom T. Hall (see, I know some people who aren't anti-racist activists; I highly recommend the Cocaine and Rhinestones episode about him), all four members of Fugazi, Wendell Berry, Sam Anderson (he should make the list for the chips essay alone!), Olof Palme, Boban Marjanovi.
Mr Rogers yes. Also my son is absolutely head over heels for Bob Ross and so far in our research on his life we haven’t found any skeletons in his closet. Steve Irwin also comes to mind as a universally loved white man. None of them made it on to our money but they all lived lives of integrity and generosity that deserves emulation. It’s a slippery slope though. All of our hero’s are humans and everyone’s done or said things they aren’t proud of. I think maybe that’s the part to strive for with our white male children. Teaching them to own their mistakes and grow from them. It seems to me that’s where a lot of the emotional constipation is stemming from with the grown up versions. They’re just refusing to be called out on their bullshit and instead doubling down. Maybe we don’t have a lot of hero’s for our kids right now. The only way to correct that is to raise some.
Jokic, Harvey Milk, DJ Savarese, Paul Wellstone, George Saunders?

Mr. Rogers checks out.
Yes Kerri, great one!

BOBAN! Now I have a whole day of research to do. Also now is when I admit to you that I don't really know what a Fugazi is.
Admit away! The fellas in Fugazi are so nice that they aren't mad at you for not knowing who they are.
Marjanovic. His name was too tall to fit in that previous text block.
Steve Kerr?
most definitely. he's on the poster with popovich and they are hugging :)

You said it better than I did Elaine, this is so true. Let's raise some heroes :) Also I love that Bob Ross is having a resurgence.
