I’m 84, with 4 young grandchildren who I taught years ago when they were in 4th grade. These tragedies are unimaginable— except that we’re forced to see that in our country, they’re not.
As Courtney Martin knows (and I’m sincerely grateful to her for our connection) I’ve been in many nonviolent protests and demonstrations dating back to when I participated in the Civil Rights movement.
I can say that I’ve never felt more urgency than now to take to our streets and mobilize a nonviolent movement for the strictest gun control, similar to what they have achieved in England, Australia and New Zealand, following their massacres of innocent people by killers carrying heavy weapons.
We must not wait any longer. Our children could be next: but they all belong to us! DD
