This will sound either ancient or retro or both but: If I hear even ONE LINE of ONE SONG from the Big Chill soundtrack, I cannot help but belt the entire album (um playlist?), wherever I am. I think of it as both a superpower and a curse.

I’ll never not sing to Shai’s If I Ever Fall in Love

I love singing as much as you do! I was never considered any good (couldn't make it into jazz choir) but I've been delighted to find that, after years of singing the same songs, I've actually gotten a bit better at all the things my choir director used to yell at me about in high school (breath control, tone, etc.) The three songs I used to sing at bedtime for my daughter pretty much sum up the type of stuff I like to sing: a) Red River Valley; b) Yodeling Cowboy (as sung by Jimmie Rodgers); and The Big Rock Candy Mountain (the version from the O Brother Where Art Thou soundtrack). I am also a big sucker for 90s indie rock sensitive man songs (Jeff Buckley, etc.) Having a kid in the house has somehow allowed me to give myself permission to sing freely, which I always used to be too embarrassed to do. It's great. Singing gives me such joy, and it's such a wonderful emotional release.
