I resent Valentine's day so much. This year we leveled down and made homemade cards and I worked so much harder on the cards than the kids so I learned that next time I can be like them and just use a pen and paper and skip the glue and markers.
I started the tradition of giving books on Valentine's when my oldest was little...because books are always good. This year it was too crazy and I didn't get to go to our indie children's bookstore in time. I was worried about hearing, "BUT WHERE ARE THE BOOKS?" No one noticed. We were all fine.
The whole Boo basket/Valentine's presents seems to fly in the face of our new mandate to buy nothing and destabilize the capitalist machine. " Make it or bake it" is my emerging motto re presents, except for the necessary gummies for these hard times...
