Your title made me think of a quote from Adrienne Martini: “Running very slowly while crying is still moving forward.”

Sarah, your terrific narratives rival Courtney's for their riveting, engaging quality. Thanks for this one! At age 84, my jogging days are over but Sharron (partner for 61 years) and I have vowed to keep up our daily walks in the nearby Portland, OR. forest. We did enjoy escapes to the NJ beaches a lot when living in NYC but the Japanese have made studies of what's called "forest bathing" and our conifers offer a unique healing power in these times of stress, including the spread of all Covid's variants. I'm sure sorry that your family has been hit so hard from this pandemic.

We took the risk of mixing with huge crowds over the weekend by joining the Pride Parade here. Our three generation Dalton family contingent was led by my oldest granddaughter, a lesbian. This celebration of LGBTQ+ became a gratifying, exhilarating event that took me back to my first Pride march in NYC, 1983, when the AIDS epidemic was at its height.

The photo of your adorable daughter reminds me of Courtney's two girls when I saw them last, as we took a walk in the forest.

Please write more about Pride month because it deserves much more attention than it's received so far.

In solidarity, DD

I'm so glad I finally read this one, for so many reasons. I really feel you on the need for novelty being with something that makes being you hard, and something that makes you incredibly powerful and spectacular and special. And I very much also have struggled to exercise because it seems so mind-numbingly boring.
